Gosse, Herman P. (13 APR 1920 - 9 AUG 2012)

Herman P. Gosse, age 92, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012 at his home in Colby. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. The Rev. Mark Neumann will officiate. A visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Monday August 13, at the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford and also on Tuesday at the church from 10 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow the service in Colby Memorial Cemetery.

Herman was born April 13, 1920 to Louis and Ida (Lube) Gosse in the Township of Green Grove. He received his education at Cloverdale School, Township of Green Grove. Herman proudly served his country in the Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945 seeing duty in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy. Herman was united in marriage to Kathryn Hazel Krueger on October 25, 1947, at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. He worked throughout the area doing concrete work and general construction and built the house he .and Hazel occupied for 55 years.

Herman was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. He enjoyed deer hunting and working on old machinery, including tractors and engines. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children: Jeff (Mary) Gosse of Prior Lake, MN, Cheryl (Brian) Goodman of Madison, Judy Gosse of Madison, and Kevin Gosse of Punta Gorda, FL. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Susan (Zach) Lein, Shaun Gosse, James Wagner, Russell Wagner, Rachael Goodman, and Ashley Goodman; and his sisters, Marion Krueger and Harriet Laabs of Colby.

Herman is preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn, his brother, Melvin Gosse, and his sisters: Anita Schuh, Viola Ewert, and Dorothy Rodriguez

The Maurina Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the Gosse family with arrangements.
