Alger, Mamie (19 NOV 1889 - 3 FEB 1963)
Mrs. Jay (Mamie) Alger, 73, passed away at her home Sunday evening, Feb. 3,
1963, after a lingering illness.
She was born in Holland Town, Wis. on
Nov. 19, 1889 to Gilbert and Johanna Vanderhyden, who preceded her in death.
She was married to Jay Alger May 25, 1915. Besides her husband, six children
survive. Mrs. John (Genevieve) Schmidt, Lodi, Wis., Mrs. Joseph (Mildred)
Schmidt, St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Dale (Annabelle) Anderson, Cyril, Edmund and
Gilbert, all of Thorp, also two brothers, Harry and Wilfred Vanderhyden of
Thorp, and 27 grandchildren. 2 sisters, Barbara and Joseph, also preceded her in
death.
Funeral services were held at St. Bernard’s Church Wednesday, Feb.
6. Father Michael Mertens officiated at the 10 a.m. service, and burial was in
St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
Rosary services were held Tuesday at 8:00 p.m.
Pallbearers were Bill Alger, Danny Alger, Larry Alger, Jerry and Ronnie
Schmidt, and Dennis Anderson, all grandsons.
