Collins, Clarence (Shop Fire - FEB 1963)
Two fire
departments battled in vain as a noontime fire roared through a Humbird (Clark
Co., Wis.) landmark Friday when Clarence Collins’ repair shop was destroyed in
Humbird.
Collins was eating lunch in his home next door to the 30 by 50
foot one-story frame building when his wife noticed smoke.
Fire
departments from Alma Center-Humbird and Fairchild sent about 20 men and at
least three truck to the scene, but found that flames had burst through the roof
of the 60-year-old sheet metal covered building by the time they arrived.
