Summer is here with rain and warm weather. It makes corn grow and the farmer wipe his brow.

The Granton Boosters made a visit at Chili Tuesday noon. It was quite a success. The band, a prominent feature, excelled itself in giving a few selections. The playing was very good, considering the short time of its existence. May their tour bring the success deserved for the undertaking.

Another dynamite accident was reported from Spencer today, where a young fellow lost a hand through a premature explosion of a cap. Surely dynamite is innocent, if the operator plants his mind and leaves it immediately upon lighting the fuse.

Chas. Guk has invested in good horseflesh lately. He bought a big black mare the other day from Albert Walter of the town of Grant to mate his black stallion, which he got from near Green Bay. Big horses are easy to sell, small horse are a drag on the market, though they will do well for general farm work.

Al Snow shipped a car of stock and calves Tuesday morning.

Mrs. Otto Walter and son Wilbur are visiting their sister and Aunt Mrs. Anton Hogenson for a while. Mrs. Walter has a good circle of acquaintances of former years, as Mable Fraser.

H. Degener wants to sell his two horses, a single driver 1300 lbs. and a buckskin mare 5 years old, 11 50 lbs., who goes well either single or double.

The remodeling of the schoolhouse is under way, the excavating of the basement is under construction now.

Mrs. Wm. Yonkie and sister-in-law Mrs. Louis Milholm went to Chicago Monday on a visit to relatives and old friends.

The Crandall Orchestra of Granton will give a dance here tomorrow, Saturday night. Everybody is welcome.

The young people of Chili and vicinity have organized a society known as the Christian educational Society. The first meeting was held last Sunday night at the M.E. Church. Fourteen members enrolled, and the follow officers were elected: President, Mr. Percy Hallock; Vice Pres., Miss E. Stettler; Treas., Mr. Rene Gibson; Secretary, Mr. Jay Waterman; Asst. Sec., Miss Pearl Crego. Although organized by the young people older people are cordially invited to join. New members are earnestly solicited. It costs nothing to join.

The topic for next Sunday night will be a patriotic meeting;. Leader: Jay Waterman. The time is 7:45 p.m. and will be made welcome.
