Lindner, Edward P. (29 JUN 1923 - 11 APR 1945)
Sgt.
Edward P. Lindner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Math Lindner, was born in the Town of
Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.) on June 29, 1923 and attended St. Mary’s Catholic
School, graduating with the class of 1936.
He left for his physical
examination on Oct. 12, 1942. From Milwaukee he went to Fort Sheridan, Ill. and
then to Fort Lewis, Wash. From here he was sent to Los Angeles, and later to San
Francisco, Calif., from where he went to the Hawaiian Islands where he remained
for 10 months. He then went to New Guinea where he remained six months, then
going to Molacco’s Island and then to the Philippine Islands where he was killed
in action on Luzon on April 11, 1945. He was a member of the 33rd Division under
Major General Clarkson. He never had a furlough.
Sgt. Edward was one of
eleven children and is survived by his parents, three sisters, Mrs. Fred
(Genevieve) Budxisz of Chicago, and Loretta and Helen at home, four brothers,
Frank, Bernard, Lawrence and Jerry at home, his grandmothers, Mrs. Anna Lindner
and Mrs. Ev. Scherer and many uncles, aunts and cousins, two brothers, Joseph
and William and one sister preceded him in death.
