Miss
Myrtle Frost of Stevens Point is here visiting Miss Lulu Beecher since
Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Sanger of Chili, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schroeder
and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Ohm of Marshfield, with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Goldamer and Mrs.
Julius Goldamer of Neillsville, spent Sunday with the Albert Viergutz family on
route 3.
It is openly charge in Congress that the Council of National
Defense is letting contracts for war supplies to its own members at exorbitant
prices, but what else is to be expected when the council is composed of the very
men who control the output of this country.
Mr. and Mrs. P.J. Kemmeter
are leaving by auto yet this week to join relatives from the west, enroute to
Boston, Mass, in a visit in Milwaukee.
Max Steinhaus of Waukesha joined
hi family here at the E.R. Wonser home Wednesday and they continued on to
Neillsville yesterday to visit his brother and family who live on a farm north
of that city.
Mr. and Mrs. T.F. Lee went to Neillsville Wednesday and
visited at their son Vint’s there until next day when Mr. Lee continued on to
Eau Claire and brought their son Dale home from the hospital there. Mrs. Lee
returned home from Neillsville with them that afternoon.
Henry Braatz and
Arthur Hubing autoed to Grand Rapids and Rudolph last week Thursday and while at
Rudolph purchased two pure bred jet black Percheron mares. Arthur remained over
and brought the two mares, one with a colt by her side, home, arriving here all
o.k. Saturday evening. Herman Braatz and Arthur Kurth were with them on the
trip, but did not purchase horses.
Rev. J. Reiff and daughter Charlotte
went to Watertown Tuesday where Charlotte is since visiting relatives while Rev.
Reiff continued on to Milwaukee, and is attending the synod there, expecting to
return home next week Thursday. There will be Sunday morning services at his
church at the usual hour, even though he is absent.
