Roy
Blocsidge and family had a serious experience the 4th. While driving his wife
and child in the side-car of his motor cycle towards Marshfield in some way the
rig tipped over, throwing all on the ground. Roy and child escaped injury, but
his wife got quite badly hurt. She was taken to the Marshfield Hospital, where
she was at first given up for dead, but upon examinations later on, hope was
revived. It was found that she had 5 ribs broken, one of which punctured the
lungs, but not so serious. She is still at the hospital and hopes for her
ultimate recovery are fair.
There were several private parties in the
surrounding country which began in joyful spirit. A few of these parties ended
in more or less uproarious and fighting spirit, causing in some cases, black
eyes and stabbing. As nobody got killed, we probably have to pass these minor
incidents over with the admonition to boys, don’t do it again. We have enough
serious times on hand without making trouble for ourselves here.
A.W.
Wendorf has his house now on the new basement and has carpenters at work
remodeling the house. It will be quite nice looking according to the plans, when
finished. Mrs. Wendorf and children have gone visiting while the house is
undergoing these changes.
Aug. Reimer bought one of those Flying Dutchman
hay loaders which are making haying easier for men, and are savers of time, when
help is scarce, as it is this year.
H. Degener has a second hand hay
loader for sale, which is ing good repair, and good for many years to come.
August Kempin and family, and Mrs. Degener made a flying visit at Alfred
Kempin’s home Monday night.
Mr. Pulz will soon commence to build his new
home here at Chili. He things it is good enough to live.
Emil Krause
spent much of last week there helping his brother-in-law Freeman Dankemyer build
his garage.
Miss Helen Croell is home since Monday after a year’s absence
at Appleton.
Frank Wood was here from Granton on Friday.
Mrs.
Adolph Pusheck is ill and confined to her bed the past week, suffering with what
is thought to be gall stones. Her sister, Mrs. L.E. Moh of Granton, spent
Wednesday afternoon here with her.
Mrs. G.A. Ziemendorf of Chippewa Falls
came over from Granton Wednesday to visit her sister, Mrs. Chas. Mundt.
Tony Hornick Jr. was at Granton Wednesday.
Henry Lawson was over from
Granton Wednesday.
