Abel
Harding was here from Chili on business on Saturday.

Marshfield autoed over last Friday on professional business.
Miss Rose
Johnson of Milwaukee, after a visit at Chas. Owen’s in the town of Loyal, went
home Monday.
The Misses Esther Welsh and Elva Rose went to Plymouth
yesterday on a visit to relatives.
Mrs. Lorenz Kohl of Marshfield spent
Wednesday here with her sister, Mrs. Walter Schlinsog.
Mrs. J.A. Miller
of route 3 left for Polar Grove, Ill. Wednesday on a visit to relatives.
Miss Martha Dyer of Fond du Lac spent the week here with her sister Mrs. Ezra
Sherrett on Rout 4.
Charlotte Reiff came home from Watertown Wednesday
evening, accompanied by her cousin Miss Lange.
Mrs. Jake Andregg and Mrs.
Mike Seidelman of the town of York were Marshfield visitors Tuesday.
Edna
Atkin of Minneapolis is here since last week Thursday visiting her aunt Mrs.
Mike Dorst.
Mrs. Huebner of Eau Claire is visiting at Martin Ehrhardt’s
since Monday.
George Smith of Grand Rapids was an over Sunday guests of
his old friend, J.L. Keller of Ylnn.
The Misses Adelia Winter, Sara Mae
and Jean Davis, with Miss McHenry, spent Saturday with friends at Neillsville.
Mr. and Mrs. Albion Downer spent Saturday at Marshfield.
Mr. and Mrs.
Webb Winn are at Milwaukee and Madison since Wednesday.
Mrs. Floyd Winn
entertained the Circle and a few friends Wednesday.
Mrs. Beth Squires
returned to Marshfield and her work there Monday.
Mrs. Dorr Neff died
very suddenly at her home in Neillsville last Wednesday evening.
Mrs.
Rose Spillers and baby Lucile of Iowa are visiting at Charles Buchanan’s on
Route 2 since Friday.
The Misses Elsie Johnson and Ora Davis were
Neillsville visitors on Friday.
Mrs. Walter Gourlie and daughter Irene of
Veefkind visited Mrs. Mabel Welsh and at L. Stevens’ on Saturday.
John
Javorak of Route 2 drove in Monday and met Mrs. Chapel and baby, who had arrived
by train that morning on a visit.
Miss Mable Cannon of Neillsville, with
Mr. and Mrs. P.W. Hales of Poynette, arrived here Wednesday morning in response
to news of the death of Mrs. Loren Hales.
Miss Anna Neeg and Lawrence
Creigo, after a visit with a Miller family near Loyal, went home to Minnesota on
Tuesday.
Mrs. Albert Thierk and daughter Martha are here from
Clintonville visiting at A.C.F. Witt’s in Lynn, since Saturday.
Miss
Delia Mills of Loyal came Saturday and made an over Sunday visit at Geo.
Fischer’s at Kurth Corners.
Miss Bertha Riedel went to Humbird Saturday
evening and made an over Sunday visit to Mrs. Roy Creviston.
Mr. and Mrs.
P.J. Kropp and daughters Nan and Flo, with Mr. and Mrs. Ole Johnson, all of
Eagle Gorge, Wash., are visiting at S. Rounseville’s in York since Tuesday.
Mrs. Higby of Milwaukee was the guest of Mrs. E.R. Wonser Tuesday and is
since visiting at W.J. Davis’ in York.
Mrs. John Hubing and 2 little
daughters were down from Loyal Tuesday to visit at Geo. Beaver’s and at
Neillsville.
Rev. O.A. Hillman of Eau Claire joined his family in a visit
at the Martin Ehrhardt home on Route 2, Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stevens
and son Stanley of Spokeville were down Monday evening on a visit to relatives
in the L. Stevens home.
Miss Della Durst and Miss Gertrude Kimball came
over from Marshfield Saturday and made an over Sunday visit at W.S. Davis’.
Mr. and Mrs. D.C. Van Brunt arrived here by auto from Ocean Park, Calif.
last Friday night on a visit to her parents Mr. and Mrs. S.R. Davis, and other
relatives here.
Mrs. Robert Rezin and daughter Miss Ruth came up from
Grand Rapids late last week and made an over Sunday visit at the Byrl Winn home.
Miss Catherine Bladl spent Monday with friends at Chili. Catherine has been
here keeping house for her grandpa Bladl during her Aunt Mrs. Irving’s absence
at Hokah, Minn.
Mr. and Mrs. Aug. Dufran Jr. and their 4 children from
Weirgor, after a several weeks visit with his parents in the town of Sherwood,
left on the return trip Thursday evening.
John Hayden was over from
Marshfield on a boiler mending trip Saturday for Mr. Fisher of the Pleasant
Ridge Cheese Factory.
Mrs. Tom Donahue of Neillsville answered the final
summons at her home in that city on Monday.
Mrs. Rose Spillers and baby
Lucile, after a visit at Chas Buchanan’s left for Redfield, Iowa, yesterday.
Mrs. A.J. Knorr and Mrs. H.C. Witte autoed to Marshfield and visited Mrs.
Augusta Riedel at the hospital there last week Tuesday.
Oscar Eberhardt
and his Sheboygan guests autoed over and spent Sunday with the Wm. Schaefer
family on the Ridge.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed O’Brien of Neillsville, after a
visit at Peter Hohenstein’s on Route 4, went home yesterday.
Theodore
Larson came home from Osseo Wednesday to get his household goods and returned
yesterday.
Mrs. Ernest Dixon and baby Donald went to Neillsville
Wednesday on a several days visit to Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Devos.
Mrs. John
Southerland and daughter Maxine were over from Neillsville and visited Mrs.
Ernest Dixon on Monday.
Mrs. Uhl and daughters Lucille and Isabelle of
Galesville are here since Wednesday visiting relatives in the Fred Dopp family.
Mrs. Fred Dopp entertained a large company of lady friends yesterday
afternoon and evening in honor of her sister and nieces, who are here from
Galesville.
The Calvin Muir and Glen Peterson families of Nasonville were
here and in attendance at Mrs. Augusta Riedel’s funeral.
Miss Lulu
Beecher and her friends Miss Myrtle Frost went to Nasonville Saturday on a visit
to relatives in the Llewellyn Beecher family. Miss Lulu Beecher returned home on
Monday.
James Fradette and son John are here from Withee since Saturday
helping with haying at his brother Herbert Fradette’s in the town of York.
Mrs. Alex Manthey and daughter Lenora and Mrs. Fred Willman, after a visit
at Melchior Hosley’s, went home to Medford on Saturday.
The Misses Hilda
Strey and Alma Schuelke, after a visit with home folk here, returned to
Milwaukee last Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. P.J. Kemmeter left by auto Sunday
morning for Milwaukee on a week’s pleasure trip and outing.
Mrs. Aug.
Schlinsog Sr. went to Chili Saturday and made an over Sunday visit with her
daughter, Mrs. Ernest Neinas.
Miss Huber of Marshfield attended the
funeral of her friend, Mrs. Loren Hales here Wednesday and was a guest in the
W.E. Benedict home.
Mr. and Mrs. McHenry and daughter, who were visiting
at W.J. Davis’, went home to Milwaukee yesterday.
W.S. Davis, suffering
with an ulcer of the right eye, was at Marshfield Wednesday to consult Dr. Hipke
in regard to the disease.
The ice cream social at the Frank Davis home
last Saturday was largely attended and a very social good time had by all
participants.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Edw. Remus, Mrs.
Heyder and daughter Clara, Mrs. Markham and Ethel Stockwell, all of Neillsville,
with friends who autoed up from Whitehall, were here and in attendance at the
ice cream social at Frank Davis’ Saturday evening.
Mrs. John Rausch spent
much of last week at Marshfield visiting her niece Miss Thiel at St. Joseph’s
Hospital where the latter is recovering from an operation for gall stones.
Miss Bernice Stockwell came down from Spooner Monday and visited the Baers
until Wednesday when she went home, accompanied by her cousin Helene Baer.
Mrs. Henry Grassman and little daughter, accompanied by Miss Alma Grassman,
went to Auburndale Wednesday to join Mr. Grassman and take up residence.
Bernard Churchill of Milwaukee, visiting his grandma Dangers at Neillsville,
came over and spent Friday here with his cousins Stanley and Rose Kemmeter.
Season tickets for the Lincoln Chautauqua at Neillsville, July 23 to 28, may
be purchased at Amidon’s Drug Store any time before Saturday night.
Mrs.
Joe Schuld and children, after a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo.
Houser of the town of York, left for her home at Circle, Mont., Wednesday. Her
parents accompanied her as far as St. Paul.
Mrs. W.J. Hodges of Mankato,
Ill., coming to attend the funeral of her brother William Wegner’s children at
Neillsville Tuesday, visited at her brother Herman Wegner’s here after the
funeral and left for home on Wednesday.
Lawrence Davis had the misfortune
to receive a very painful injury last Sunday noon. While trying to start a
gasoline engine, the crank flew off and struck him in the face, cutting an ugly
gash over the right eye, rendering him unconscious for a short time. Mrs.
Hickox, a professional nurse, gave first aid until the arrival of Dr. Murphy,
who found it necessary to take several stitches to sew up the wound.
Mr.
and Mrs. Wm. Klemme and sons Elmer and Willie, with Miss Lillie Markwardt,
autoed up from Sheboygan last Saturday and visited Mrs. Klemme’s father Oscar
Eberhardt on Route 1 until yesterday, when they left by auto on the return trip.
Mrs. Otis Slocomb and daughter Isabelle, Mrs. Ben Dux and Mrs. Clemens
Kuechenmeister autoed to Pine Valley Tuesday and attended the funeral of Leona
Linster, Nelda and Nora Wegner.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hoth, their son George
and daughter Hazel, with Miss Lydia Heronymus, all of Sheboygan autoed up last
Saturday and were guests of relatives in the Wm. Schaefer home on the Ridge
until yesterday.
Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Beeckler, visiting their little
grandson baby Pickett at the Earl Pickett home in Spencer two weeks ago, found
the little fellow the center of attraction to two grandfathers, two
grandmothers, 1 great-grandfather, one great-grandmother, his parents and
several aunts and uncles who were present atht eEarl Pickett home that day.
Fred Daniels went to Marshfield Tuesday and brought Mrs. Daniels home after
a two week stay at the Marshfield Hospital, where she underwent an operation for
appendicitis.
Mrs. W. Lillie and daughters Lucille and Agnes of Sun
Prairie are here since Sunday morning visiting the Clarence Gilbert family at
Spokeville.
Herman Schuelke came home from the east last week Wednesday
and left yesterday on a visit to relatives at Cobb and Milwaukee, after which he
will continue on back east.
Earl Marsh, a Granton boy, until recently
stationed with Co. M. of Duluth as second lieutenant and assigned to the Hibbing
Company of the Minnesota National Guard. It is expected that he will leave for
France in the near future.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Albright of Burlington,
Wis., enroute home from Montana, stopped off here Wednesday evening for a visit
at Rev. Reiff’s and to remain until Henry, Herman and Carl Braatz, with Rev.
Reiff, leave on their proposed auto trip to Wausau, when Mr. and Mrs. Albright
will be at the auto party.
