Henze, Hulda (Patriotism - JUL 1917)
Patriotism
can be found everywhere nowadays, among the rich and poor, young and old. But
here is a case which came to our notice of late and which is deserving of
special mention. Hulda, the little 9-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto
Henze, living 2 miles east of here (Granton, Clark Co., Wis.), did not want to
be outdone by her mother and sisters, and desired to become a member of the Red
Cross and do her bit for her country. When told that it would cost one dollar to
join that society and that she must earn that amount before she could join, she
at once set to work to pick potato bugs at 1 cent per hundred, and little Hulda
is now a full-fledged member of the Granton Red Cross Society.
