Magnuson, Shirley Anna (22 February 1923 -2 September 2012)
Shirley Magnuson, 89, of Neillsville died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at St.
Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
Shirley Anna Magnuson was born Feb. 22,
1923, in Grant Township, Clark County, the daughter of Alfred and Ella (Cook)
Magnuson. Upon graduating from high school, she left to go to Minneapolis, MN,
to work for one year loading ammunition for the war. After that, she settled in
at the Munsingwear factory in Minneapolis for 36 years until retiring in 1981.
She then moved back and lived on the home farm until moving to town in 1994 and
living at the Country View Apartments. She entered the Neillsville Care and
Rehabilitation Center in 2010.
She loved the Minnesota Twins and
Vikings. She also liked to read, watch old movies, sewing, knitting and bowling.
Her family would like to thank the Neillsville Care and Rehabilitation Center
staff for taking good care of her during her stay.
Shirley is survived by
a nephew, Greg (Sharon) Magnuson of Neillsville; a niece, Debra (Al) Zahn of
Marshfield; one grandnephew, five grandnieces, two great-grandnephews and five
great-grandnieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and
Ella Magnuson; one brother, Earl Magnuson; a niece, Lori Magnuson Leggate; and a
sister-in-law, Geri Magnuson.
A graveside service for Shirley will be
held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at the Town of Grant Cemetery. Pastor
Douglas Bjerke will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11
a.m. Thursday at the cemetery.
