Pflughoeft, 71, of Loyal, formerly of Neillsville, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2012,
at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
Hazel Jean Schwamb was born Feb.
5, 1941, in Neillsville, the daughter of Theodore and Frieda (Rath) Schwamb. She
graduated from Neillsville High School in 1959 and worked as a teller at the
First National Bank until 1961. She was united in marriage July 22, 1961, to
Donald Pflughoeft. Together they farmed and raised their family. During this
time Hazel liked to bowl, cook and spend time with her Homemakers group trading
recipes. After they retired from the farm in 1995, she liked to spend time with
family and friends. She also worked part time in the deli at the Loyal IGA.
Hazel was a member of the Loyal United Methodist Church and served on the church
council. She also loved delivering the Buyer’s Guide with her husband, going
with Donnie gambling and watching the Milwaukee Brewers. Hazel and Donald just
celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with a party for family and friends.
Hazel is survived by her husband, Donald; a son, Dale Pflughoeft, of
Kronenwetter; a daughter, Lori (Larry) Buffington, of Marshfield; and four
grandchildren, Kayla Buffington and Chris, Erin and Hannah Pflughoeft.
Funeral services for Hazel were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at the
Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Patsy Roe officiated. Visitation was
held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at the Gesche Funeral Home.
Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Casketbearers were John
Fields, Steve Reising, Les Delo, Kelly Hanson, Larry Buffington and Craig Bandt.
