The First Congregational Church of
Owen was the setting for the Saturday, Aug. 31, 1963 marriage rites uniting Miss
Eveline Elizabeth Goldbach, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy A. Eckert, St. Paul,
Minn., and Larry Thomas Stewart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Stewart, Withee
(Clark Co., Wis.).
The 4 p.m. ceremony was performed by the Rev. Ralph
Claybaugh, with Mr. Eckert giving his daughter in marriage. “The Lord’s Prayer”
and “Wedding Prayer” were sung by David Jablonic, Owen, Jane Westendorf, Withee,
was the organist.
Church decorations included white gladiolas, basket
sprays of fall flowers and candles.
The bride wore a white floor length
silk organza gown made in modified princess style, flowers and lace decorating
the bodice, which had a scoop neckline. A highlight of the gown was a double
draped bow in the back.
An elbow length veil of illusion was secured to
an orange blossom circlet and the bridal bouquet contained white roses.
Mrs. Marion Scharf, Bangor, Mich., was the matron of honor, and Miss Gisela
Alexander and Mrs. Donna Medina, both of St. Paul, Minn., served as bridesmaids.
The aids wore gold satin brocade in sheath style made with low square back
and accented with bows and streamers. They had rosebud headpieces with veils and
carried colonial bouquets.
Marlon Scharf, Bangor, Mich., was best man;
Kenneth Carlsen, Withee, and Robert Stewart, Stanley, were ushers.
After
the ceremony a dinner was served in the church dining room with the reception
following in the church parlors.
The bride attended junior college in
Munich, Germany, and has been employed as bookkeeper for the Farmers Union
Central Exchange in St. Paul, Minn., where, after a wedding trip to Niagara
Falls, she and her husband will reside at 40 JoAnn St.
Mr. stewart, a
graduate of Owen-Withee High School, also attended the Eau Claire Vocational
School, majoring in business administration. He is employed as an insurance
underwriter for Arrowhead Ins. Co., St. Paul.
Guests came from St. Paul,
Minn., Rockford, Ill. and from Eau Claire, Arcadia, Stanley, Thorp, Owen,
Greenwood, Portage, Milwaukee, Appleton, Kaukauna, Dorchester, Plainfield,
Wautoma, Withee, Madison, Brookfield, Prairie du Sac and Bangor, Mich.
