Lamont, Virginia B.

Virginia "Jinny" Barbara Lamont, age 87, of
Colby, died Saturday, September 22, 2012, surrounded by her entire family.
Virginia was born on May 14, 1925, to Isadore and Lillian (Lystad) Firnstahl on
their family farm east of Colby. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School and
Colby High School. After graduation, Virginia attended the Wausau Vocational
School. During the summer, she worked in her parents' grocery store in Colby,
and during the winder she worked in Milwaukee at the Miller Furnace Company.
On November 16, 1946, Virginia married Angus D. Lamont at St. Mary's Church
in Colby. She worked at the Colby Security State Bank until they began a family.
Virginia enjoyed raising her children and being a homemaker. Her interests and
hobbies included playing cards, traveling, crocheting, craft-making, and
gardening. Virginia was a dedicated member of St. Mary's Church, Christian
Mothers, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the VFW Auxiliary. She was the
secretary of the American Legion Auxiliary for Thirty years and helped organize
the Colby VFW Auxiliary, serving as its first president.
Virginia is
survived by her husband, Angus, her five children: Kathy (Jim) Harris, Mary
(David) Enright, Donna (Craig) Marvin, Peg (Dr. Tim) Harvey, and Michael Lamont;
eight grandchildren: Jodi (Brian) Clarson, Molly Harris, Megan (Nic) Jacoby,
Mike (Rachel) Enright, Taylor Marvin, Kevin Marvin, Logan Marvin; and four
great-grandchildren: Mike Clarson, Chelsea Clarson, Brady Clarson, and Kennedy
Enright.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Isadore and Lillian
Firnstahl, three brothers: Norman, Jerry, and Paul Firnstahl; an infant
granddaughter, and her daughter-in-law, Anne Lamont.
Virginia's
compassion for her husband, family, and friends was legendary, and her energy in
caring for others was well-known throughout the community. Her life was blessed
by family and friends, who will miss her dearly.
A Mass of Christian
Burial will be held Friday, September 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's
Catholic Church in Colby. Father Daniel Hackel will officiate. A visitation will
be held Thursday, September 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Maurina Schilling
Funeral Home in Colby and again from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the
church on Friday.
The Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Colby is
assisting the Lamont family with arrangements.
