Hanson, Marilee C. (30 NOV 1963)

The altar of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Stanley, was decorated with yellow and white mums when Miss Marilee Catherine Hanson became the bride of Kenneth John Szymoniak on Saturday, Nov. 30th, 1963. Rev. Edmund Cramer performed the nine a.m. double ring ceremony. Wayne Hanson, brother of the bride, served at the Nuptial mass and St. Ann’s Choir sang.

Parents of the bride and groom are Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Hanson, Stanley and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Szymoniak, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white organza dress with chapel train which was later converted into a bustle. The dress featured long pointed sleeves and the rounded neckline was trimmed with pearls and embroidery. Her elbow length veil of silk illusion was held by a pillbox with pearls and embroidery trim to match her dress, and sh carried a crescent shaped bouquet of a white orchid and white roses.

Wearing blue sapphire street length dresses, styled with rounded neckline, elbow length sleeves and a big bow in back of paneled skirt were Ann Trubac, friend of the bride, as maid of honor, and Mary Lou Mahr, friends of the bride, and Sharon Ruda, the grooms’ cousins, as bridesmaids. Their crescent shaped bouquets were of yellow Fuji and pompom chrysanthemums.

Roger Szymoniak was his brother’s best man, and groomsmen were Kenneth Hanson and Thomas Hanson, brothers of the bride. Ushers were Clayton Hanson and Conrad Szymoniak, brother of the bride and groom. All had white carnation boutonnieres.

A dinner for 35 guests was held at the Harmony House, Stanley, and a reception for 250 guests was at the Stanley Auditorium. A dance was held in the evening at the Thorp Legion Hall.

Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Tashingbaur, Chippewa Falls, were the couple’s witnesses. Miss Judy Sparby, the bride’s cousin, opened the gifts, and Mrs. Gilbert Tashingbaur, assisted by Mrs. Irvin Michaud, cut the wedding cake.

The bride’s mother wore a cranberry knit sheath with black accessories and had a corsage of red and white carnations. The groom’s mother wore a royal blue brocade sheath with black accessories and had a corsage of blue and white carnations.

The bride attended Stanley High School and Career Academy, Milwaukee, and is a dental assistant for Dr. Thomas Wright, Chicago. The groom attended Thorp High School and is employed at the American Can Co., Maywood, Ill.

After a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin, the new couple will make their home at 4521 N. Keokuk Ave., Chicago.
