Herman, Charles (28 JUL 1884 - 13 DEC 1963)

Funeral services were held Monday morning, Dec. 16th at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church for Charles Herman, who died Dec. 13, 1963. The Rev. Francis Brockman officiated, and burial was made in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers were James Kowieski, Ray Tomaskiewicz, Chicago; Robert Pease, Thomas Misfeldt, Michael Pease and Terry Misfeldt, Thorp.

Born in Humphrey, Neb., he married Gertrude Bogumill in St. Hedwig’s Church here April 29, 1907, and operated two taverns before moving to a farm three miles north of Here (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.), which he operated until 1920, when he came back to Thorp. He operated a general store for six years and later worked at the Thorp Dairy before going into semi-retirement in 1953. He belonged to the Holy Name Society and Men’s Catholic Order of Foresters of St. Bernard’s Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Marie Kowieski, Chicago, Mrs. Clyde Misfeldt, Mrs. Theresa Pease, Thorp, Jeanne, Horicon, Robert, Thorp, Jerry, Janesville; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and one sister, Mrs. Mike Zaborowski, Thorp.

Those attending the services from out of town were Mrs. Marie Kowieski and son James, and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Tomaskiewicz and daughter Tammy, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Herman and family, Janesville; Miss Jeanne Herman, Horicon; Mrs. Joseph Plasecki, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Byrns, Rhinelander; Frank Pietrie, Rudolph’ Peter Herman and Edward Herman, Gilman; Mr. and Mrs. Peter Konwinski, Stanley; Frank Wilcenski and Mrs. Victoria Wilcenski, Gilman; Mr. and Mrs. Peter Konwinski, Stanley; Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Williams, Minneapolis; Mrs. Lucy Naicki, Hartland; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lucas, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Polnaszek, Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ferguson and son, Mr. and Mrs. George Brunner, Chippewa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. William Bogumill, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Silver Krakowiecki, Lublin; Mr. and Mrs. James Boylan and son James, Withee; and Mr. and Mrs. John Holowinski, Stanley.
