Herr, Jane M. (4 AUG 1949 - 21 SEP 2012)

Jane M. Herr, 63, of Greenwood, passed away with her loving family at her side at St. Joseph's Hospital, in Marshfield, on Friday, September 21, 2012, after a six-month battle with leukemia.

Jane Marie Weyer was born on August 4, 1949, in Marshfield, WI, to Robert and Dorothy (Walter) Weyer, the third of 11 children. She attended St. Anthony School in Loyal, St. Mary's Academy in Prairie du Chien, and Loyal High School where she graduated in 1967. Following high school, she worked as a surgical technician at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield. She married William Herr, of Greenwood, on October 4, 1969, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal. She and her husband raised their family of five children on the family dairy farm north of Greenwood. In recent years, she became known to her grandchildren as "Farm Grandma", a term of endearment that she treasured and nurtured.

Jane earned a reputation as a community leader and generous supporter of local activities. She was a long-term 4H club leader and an active supporter of the Greenwood Athletic Booster Club. In 1997, her family hosted the first Greenwood Dairy Breakfast, and then repeated the Breakfast in June 2008. Jane loved her flowers and a well-kept lawn. Her friends ensured these loves were preserved during Jane's illness, and she took great pleasure in their handiwork during her outpatient treatment.

As a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Jane taught in the CCD program, supported the parochial school, and helped with the decorating activities for the Church. She was a member of the church choir and thoroughly enjoyed singing at church gatherings. Many of her good friends were a result of these activities.

Jane is survived by her mother, Dorothy Weyer of Loyal; her husband Bill; and her children, Karrie (Guy) Willis of Medina, Minnesota; Teri (Ron) Wilczek of Marshfield; Kristy (Adam) Yaeger of Marshfield; Tom (Michelle) Herr of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; and Brandon Herr of Greenwood. Jane is also survived by five grandchildren, Sam, Gracie and Sophia Wilczek, and Ross and Ally Yaeger, all of Marshfield, as well as her mother-in-law, Josephine Herr.

In addition, surviving siblings are Edward (Dianne) Weyer of Fayetteville, GA; Barbara (Ken Schultz) Simonson of Marshfield; James (Deb) Weyer of Chili; Joseph (Mary) Weyer of Loyal; Raymond (Bonnie) Weyer of Loyal; Susan (Denny) Buehler of Marshfield; Patrick (Barb) Weyer of Hawkins; Karen (Richard) Holland of Janesville; Terrance (Shirley) Weyer of Loyal; and Cynthia (Bill) Puent of Marshfield. Jane is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Jane was preceded in death by her father, Robert Weyer, and father-in-law Joseph Herr.

The family requests that memorials to Jane be made to St. Mary's Memorial Fund.

The family would like to thank Dr. Hocking and the staff on 8 North at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield who were devoted to providing Jane exceptional care and support over the last six months. Jane touched their lives as she did with so many others and became close friends with those who cared for her.

Cuddie Funeral Home, of Greenwood, is assisting the family with arrangements.
