Several years ago this village was troubled considerably by sneak
thieves, but the practice was broken up some four years ago, since which time
the village has had perfect immunity from the petty thievery until within the
past several weeks.
A number of small articles have disappeared of late
that the owners claim could not have got away alone.
Among other things
missing, S.G. French says 30 gallons of kerosene skipped out of his root house
unbeknownst to him.
A basket of apples was taken from the woodhouse of
the writer.
A good lookout should be kept and the very first act of
sneak thievery discovered should be gently rebuked by bringing the toe of the
discoverer’s boot into close and rapid contact with the posterior of the sneak’s
person.
