Bernard Mathias
Peetz, age 90, of Thorp, formerly of Gilman, passed away on Saturday, September
29, 2012, at Traditions Assisted Living in Thorp. Bernard was born March 28,
1922, on the family farm in Thorp, to the late Peter and Anne (Ritsche) Peetz.
Bernard proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy during WWII.
On
October 22, 1949, he was united in marriage to Marie Andruszkiewicz at St.
Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp. The couple resided in the Gilman area where
they farmed and raised their family.
Barnard is survived by five
children: Linda (Doug) Mikolainis of Richfield, Bruce (Deborah) and Leon (Chris)
Peetz, both of Gilman, Ann (Bob) Dieter of Roanoke, Virginia, and Jerry
(Allison) Peetz of Brown Deer; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and
one sister, Gertrude (Joe) Blochowiak.
He was preceded in death by his
wife, Marie (1-26-2012); his parents, a sister, Marie Forness; and a brother,
Charlie Marske.
Services were held on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at 10:30
a.m. at St.’s Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Gilman with Fr. John Long
officiating. Burial followed in the parish cemetery with military graveside
rites being performed by the Gilman American Legion Post #359. Friends and
family called on Tuesday morning from 9:30 until time of service at the Church.
The Gilman Funeral home assisted the family.
