Funeral services were held at St. Francis of Assisi
Catholic Church at Ann Arbor, Michigan for William F, Bertz, 38, who died
Saturday, March 4. Burial was made in the St. Thomas cemetery.
Mr. Bertz
was born on December 12, 1922 at Loyal to Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Bertz. He attended
school here and graduated from Loyal High School in 1940. He then was employed
by Stock Chevrolet Inc. for a year before joining the Air Force during World War
ll for three years. Following his service he attended the Stevens Point State
College for a year and then transferred to Ferris Institute at Big Rapids,
Michigan where he graduated. Presently he was working on a master’s degree in
the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. He also had been working at the
Winkel Drug Store in Ann Arbor.
He was married to the former Ann Hilding
in Ann Arbor on December 22, 1950. She survives him. He was a member of St.
Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and of the American Pharmaceutical Association
and the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists. He also was a member of the
American Legion and held offices in the Huron Valley Amateur Radio League.
Other survivors include four sons, Mark, Kurt, and John, and John and a
daughter, Paula, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Bertz, Berlin;
two brothers Robert, Loyal and David, Withee; eight sisters, Mrs. Clarence
(Virginia) Bushnell, Lodi; Mrs. Josh (Rosemary) Sanford, Reedsburg, Mrs. Edward
(Marilyn) Bogdonvich, Greenwood; Mrs. Francis (Colleen) Kraeger, Hales Corners;
Mrs. Max (Joann) Hayden, New Mexico; Mrs. Jerome (Darlene) Ottoway, Berlin; Mrs.
Gilbert (Deanna) Will, North Fond du Lac, and Miss Donna Bertz, Berlin.
