Evans, 90, died Saturday evening at 9:30 at the Bethel Convalescent Home in
Arpin where he had been living for the past 3 ½ years.
Funeral services
were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Myre Funeral Home. Rev.
Paul Doering, pastor of the Loyal Methodist Church officiated and burial was
made in the Loyal cemetery.
Pallbearers were Henry Boe, Elwin Cook,
Alfred Gray, H. E. Catlin, Vern Kauffman and Ray Prior.
The soloist was
James Colby and he sang “one Sweetly Solemn Thought” and “Beyond the Sunset.”
Mrs. Byron Zepplin was the organist.
Mr. Evans was born on June 23, 1870
in Cardias, Wales and came to the United States with his parents at the age of
18. They settled on a farm in Nebraska and a few years later moved to a farm
near Mauston in Juneau County.
On July 14, 1896 he was married to the
former Eva Lane at Mauston and in 1907 they came to Clark County and purchased
80 acres of timber in the town of Loyal. They cleared that land and farmed there
until 1942 when they moved into the city of Loyal. They celebrated their golden
wedding anniversary on July 14, 1946. His wife preceded him in death.
William Evans is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Herman (Jennie) Bires, Eugene,
Oredon, Mrs. Henry (Cecelia) Anderegg, Loyal, Mrs. Carl (Rosetta) Olstinske,
Racine, Mrs. Clayton (Irene) Bassett, Fort Wayne, Indiana; one son, Wm., Jr. of
Marshfield; twenty grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren.
One
sister and one brother also preceded him in death.

attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Bassett and Duane Bassett of
Fort Wayne, Indiana; Mr. and Mrs. Otho Mohler and daughter Kimberly of
Haddonfield, New Jersey; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Olstinske, Carl Olstinske, Jr., Mr.
and Mrs. Dale Olstinske, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Olstinske, Racine; Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Leonard, Twilia and Sharon Evans, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Smith
and son, Mrs. William Evans, Arpin.
