#2 (3 FEB 1962)
A home at Wausau awaits Mr. and Mrs. Jon Voight, who were
married Saturday, Feb. 3, 1962 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church at
Marshfield. Rev. Oenchi officiated at the wedding of the former Arlene Veronica
Larson, daughter of Mrs. Rose Rogers of 500 Maryknoll Av., Marshfield, and the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Voight, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.). The Don Frodel trio
of Stratford sang during the services.
The bride, who was given in
marriage by her uncle, Frank Schwabe of Chicago, wore a floor length gown of
lace over taffeta, fashioned with a Sabrina neckline and fingertip sleeves. An
elbow length veil was attached to her headpiece.
Celeste cocktail length
dresses of nylon organza over taffeta were worn by the bridal attendants who
were Darlene Frey of Marshfield as maid of honor, Mrs. Joe Voight, the groom’s
sister-in-law of Wausau, and Jean Strachota, a cousin of the bride, as
bridesmaids. Matching crowns and headpieces completed their attire and they
carried white carnations, red roses and stephanotis. Cindy Burish, a cousin of
the bride from Edgar was dressed as a miniature bride.
The groom chose
his brother, Joe Voight of Wausau to be his best man, and groomsmen were Mike
Bauer of Loyal and Alan Rogers of Manitowoc, a cousin of the bride. Ring bearer
was Shawn Mack, Loyal, a nephew of the groom. Michael Mack, the groom’s nephew
of Loyal, and John Rogers, the bride’s brother of Marshfield, were ushers.
A dinner was held at the church hall following the marriage, with a
reception and buffet supper served at the home of the bride’s mother.
The
bride is a graduate of Marshfield Senior High School and her husband was
graduated from Loyal High School. After a honeymoon through southern Wisconsin,
they will make their home at 517 1/2 South 5th Ave., Wausau, where the groom is
employed at George Baumgardt Plumbing and Heating.
