Davis, Louis (Excitement - AUG 1917)
In a letter
to relatives here, Louis Davis relates an experience he had recently, which he
will not soon forget. While driving his car along a narrow road in the mountains
at Glacier National Park, Montana, one of the tires blew out and caused the car
to swerve sideways. Before Louis had time to bring it to a halt he found himself
tumbling down the side of a hill. With great presence of mind he threw himself
beneach the steering wheel and calmly awaited the results. After the car had
turned completely over about 5 times, it came to a stop, with Louis lying
beneath it. However, he was able to extricate himself and stop the engine.
Strange as it may sound, the only evidence of his experience that he could show
was a few scratches about his face. The car, a five passenger Chevrolet, was but
slightly damaged and was readily put into fist class running order again.
