Carl Foemmel, the 33-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Foemmel
who went violently insane at Minneapolis last week and was removed to the asylum
at Rochester, Minn., escaped the watch of the attendants there and hung himself
with a bed sheet Friday morning, Aug. 17, 1917. His brother William, in response
to the news which reached here Saturday noon, took the train for there and
returned with the body Monday afternoon and had interment made here in the
family lot in the Windfall Cemetery.
Carl was born here in the town of
Grant (Clark Co., Wis.) Sept. 22, 1883. Two years ago he left home and joined
friends in Minnesota, where he has since resided. He is survived by his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Foemmel, two sisters, Julia, Mrs. Joe Krause and Emma, Mrs.
Paul Garbush, both of the town of Grant; by 5 brothers, William of the town of
York, Adolph and August of Chili, Fred at home, and Walter in Montana. All of
these relatives, with the exception of Walter, were here and in attendance at
the last sad rites, Monday afternoon.
