Hardrath, Annie (2 JAN 1882 - 23 FEB 1963)

Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Hardrath, 81, who died Feb. 23, 1963 at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kuester, Riplinger, were held Wednesday afternoon at St. John's Lutheran Church, Riplinger. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

The body lay in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home at Colby until noon when it was taken to the church where services were held at 2 p.m. with the Rev. B.F. Matter officiating.

Henrietta Johanna Annie Kuester was born in Halle au der Saule, Germany, Jan. 2, 1882. In 1892 she came to America with her parents and settled at Fairfax, Minn. She and Henry Hardrath were married in 1900 at Wellington, Minn. and lived in the town of Martinburg, Minn., and in Fairfax until 1903, when they came to Unity and lived in the town of Beaver. In 1911, they moved to a farm in the town of Unity and lived there until 1927, when they retired and moved to Riplinger.

Surviving her are five sons and two daughters; Arthur Hardrath, Hartford; Roy Hardrath, Spencer, Route 1; Mrs. Bernhard (Elsa) Seefeld, Marshfield, Route 1; Alvin Hardrath, Milwaukee; Friedrich Hardrath, Lake City, Minn.; Mrs. Henry (Bertha) Kuesel, Riplinger, and Walter Hardrath, Spencer.

There are 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Hattie Dankemyer, Gustave Kuester, Waukesha and Otto and Fred Kuester, Hutchinson, Minn.

Mr. Hardrath preceded her in death June 29, 1942, and one son died in infancy.

In addition to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kuester, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Carl, William, Edmund and Herman Kuester, and one sister, Mrs. Fred (Ida) Dommer.

Mrs. Hardrath was a member of St. John's Lutheran Congregation and was an honorary member of the Ladies' Aid Society, with which she was affiliated since 1905. She served as its president for 15 years and also organized the Mission Aid in 1920.
