Erickson, Vesta (27 December 1903 - 7 September 1967)

Mrs. John E. (Vesta) Erickson, 63, of Janesville, formerly of the Neillsville area, died Thursday, in Janesville, where she had been residing since last November. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home. Officiating were Clinton Goff and James Greenfield. Burial was made in Lynn Cemetery.

Mrs. Erickson, the former Vesta Johnson, was born December 27, 1903, in Clark County. She attended rural schools in the county and on May 7, 1924, she was married to John E. Erickson in Stanley. Mr. Erickson died in 1962. They farmed in the Town of Lynn from 1926 to 1956, when they moved to Loyal. Mrs. Erickson taught schools in Clark County for more than 20 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Evelyn) Porter of Kirkland, Wash., and Mrs. Ronald (Alice) Schlinsog of Milton; and by eight sons, Maurice of Oroville, Cal., James H. of Angola, Ind., Verlyn E. of Pakistan, John D., Richard A., and Tilman R., all of Milwaukee; a sister, Mrs. Herbert (Ruth) Phillips of Janesville; and by 21 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Edward Schlinsog, Ralph Feldt, Oswald Accola, Harold Phillips, Raymond Hanson and Robert Radtke. “Only One Life to Live,” “The Savior with Me,” and “Only Remembered” were sung by Miss Gayle Motley, and Mrs. Myron Wepfer, accompanied by Mrs. Norma Wepfer.
