Borde, Barbara (16 December 1935 - 13 November 2012)
Barbara Borde, 76, of Madison passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Agrace
HospiceCare, Fitchburg.
She was born Dec. 16, 19356, in Albion, the daughter of the late Walter and
Elizabeth (Carl) Borde. Barbara worked many years for the Dane County court
system until her retirement in 2000. Barbara was a world traveler and an avid
member of the Dairyland Walkers Club. She participated in frequent walks in the
United States and globally and made many friends in doing so. She was happy to
be able to complete the 2011 International Olympiad in Turkey, shortly after
undergoing serious surgery. Barbara was a tireless volunteer for numerous
organizations and a generous Red Cross blood donor. She loved antique furniture
and was very accomplished at refinishing, upholstery and sewing. Barbara was a
master gardener who took great joy in the beauty of flowers and the outdoors.
She is survived by a sister, Ellen (Clifford) Swann; a niece, Diane (Lon)
Michener and her beloved grand nephew, Blake (Fiancée, Nicole Gulatz) Michener.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Immanuel
Lutheran Church, 1021 Spaight Street, with Rev. Dustin Krystowiat officiating.
Visitation was held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at the Ryan
Funeral Home, 2418 N. Sherman Avenue and also from 10 a.m. until the time of
service at the church Saturday. Private family interment was at Fassett
Cemetery, Edgerton.
Her family wishes to thank the staff at Agrace and her many friends for
supporting her during her illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Agrace Hospice or Carbone Cancer
Center.
