She was happy to be able to complete the 2011 International Olympiad in Turkey, shortly after undergoing serious surgery. Barbara was a tireless volunteer for numerous organizations and a generous Red Cross blood donor. She loved antique furniture and was very accomplished at refinishing, upholstery and sewing. Barbara was a master gardener who took great joy in the beauty of flowers and the outdoors.

She is survived by a sister, Ellen (Clifford) Swann; a niece, Diane (Lon) Michener and her beloved grand nephew, Blake (Fiancée, Nicole Gulatz) Michener.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1021 Spaight Street, with Rev. Dustin Krystowiat officiating.
