Weix, Wanda M. (19 MAY 1963)
Sunday May 19, 1963, was the wedding day for Miss Wanda Marie Weix, Chicago,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Weix, 212 S. Second St., Colby, and Eugene B.
Szymczak, son of Mrs. Mary Wisnewski of Chicago.
The bride was given in marriage by her father in the 4 o'clock ceremony
performed at St. John of God Catholic Church, Chicago. The Rev. Louis Nowak, the
pastor, read the exchange of vows and Mrs. Steven Dilberto, the soloist, sang
"Ave Maria" and "On This Day O Beautiful Mother." Ronald Sobolowski was the
organist.
The bride was attired in an ivory peau de soie gown designed with a scooped
neck, short sleeves and detailed with lace applique on the bodice and down the
front of the skirt. A pleat at the back formed a train to the full length skirt.
Her five point fingertip veil was attached to a pill box with 3 flat bows. She
carried a bouquet of orchids and Stephanotis.
Attending her as matron of honor was Mrs. Martin McElligott of Chicago, sister
of the groom, Mrs. John P. Fritz of Winona, Minn., aunt of the bride, and Miss
Mary Hardy of Chicago, niece of the groom, as bridesmaids, and Miss Marie
McElligott, niece of the groom, as flower girl.
The attendants appeared in identical aqua street length sheath dresses made with
scoop neckline, three quarter length sleeves and detachable two tiered peplum
overskirts. Pill box hats trimmed with pearls, aqua shoes and white gloves
completed their ensembles. Their bouquets were made of pink sweetheart roses.
The groom's attendants were all from Chicago, Joseph Piecara, a friends, was
best man, Frank Przybylski, a nephew, and Anthony Von Vering were ushers, and
Joseph Szymczak, a nephew, was ring bearer.
About 250 guests attended the cocktail hour, reception, dinner, and dancing at
St. Mary's Auditorium.
Mr. and Mrs. Szymczak left on a honeymoon trip to Bermuda and after June 1 will
make their home at 7425 South Shore Drive, Chicago, Ill.
The bride, a 1955 graduate of the Colby High School, is employed as an insurance
underwriter by Bryne, Byrne and Co., and her husband is a senior design engineer
for Sunbeam Corp.
Relatives from away who attended the wedding were the bride's parents of Colby,
her grandmother, Mrs. Mary Martin, and two uncles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene
Martin and Mrs. And Mrs. John P. Fritz, all of Winona, Minn.
