The Loyal Methodist Church was the setting for the marriage of Carol Edith Jensen, formerly of Loyal, and Robert Brooks Phelos, Des Moines, June 10. The Rev. Virgil Holmes, minister of the Neillsville Methodist Church performed the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. E. Coryell Jensen, Chicago, Ill., and granddaughter of Mrs. Frank D. Coryell, and the late Mr. Coryell. Phelps is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Floyd Phelps, Kingsley, Iowa.

James R. Colby, Loyal, sang, accompanied by Mrs. Byron Zepplin at the organ.

The bride wore a ballerina-length gown of white organza over taffeta. The bodice was made with cap sleeves and a Sabrina neckline outlined with Chantilly lace, sprinkled with iridescent sequins, The lace was repeated on the bell-shaped skirt. The waistline was enhanced by a cummerbund which extended into two panels at the back. The bride wore a imported French crown with shoulder-length veil and carried an arrangement of white roses.

Attending the couple were the sister and brother of the bride groom. Miss Janet Phelps was maid of honor, attired in a gown of pale green organza with matching headpiece. Her bouquet was of white roses and mums. George Phelps was best man.

A reception for the families was held at the home of the bride’s grandmother, Mrs. Coryell. Assisting with the serving were Mrs. Russell Mellien, Wheaton, Ill., Mrs. Robert Mogensen, Burlington; Mrs. John Warosh, Edgar, and Mrs. William Ludwig, Barrington, Ill., aunts of the bride.

Mrs. Phelps was graduated from Loyal High School, attending Grinnell College, and has a B.A. degree from Indiana University. She has been employed as women’s editor of the Ames Daily Tribune, Ames, Iowa. Phelps was graduated from Grinnell College, attended Drake University Law School. and is employed by Bankers Trust Company, Des Moines.

Following a trip of one week, the couple will live at 5136 Ingersoll, Des Moines, Iowa.
