Meyers, William (07 Nov 1886-05 July 1961)
Rev. Norbert E. King officiated at the funeral services Wednesday, July 5, for
William J. Meyer, 74, a former official and retired barbar, who died Saturday in
the Greenwood Nursing Home. Services were held in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church
and burial was made in the parish cemetery. A general rosary service was held at
the Myre Funeral Home Tuesday evening.
Pall bearers were Steve Brussow, Frank Degenhardt, William Theisen Sr., Paul
Davel, James Bertz and Leo Rueth.
Born in Neillsville on November 7, 1886, Mr. Meyer was also married there on
April 14, 1906 to the former Jennie McKimm, who died February 28, 1953. In 1910
the couple came to Loyal where Mr. Meyer operated a barber shop until his
retirement in 1948. He also served the community as clerk, treasurer and justice
of the peace. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
Surviving are a son, Edward Meyer, Loyal; two daughters, Mrs. Henry (Gertrude)
Keller, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and Mrs. Foster (Ruth) Will, Owen; six
grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a sister, Mrs. Elsie Lambert,
Neillsville.
One brother preceded him in death.
Attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Foster Will & three daughters,
Owen; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Keller and sons, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Mrs. Elsie
Lambert, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. William G. Meyer, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Krautz, Neillsville; Mrs. Roberta Meyer, Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Will,
Potosi; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Will, Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Miller, Mrs. Frank
Staniec, & Mrs. Charles Klapatauakas & mother, Withee; Mrs. Alma DeCramer & Mr.
and Mrs. Carl Thomas, Neillsville.
