Lastofka, Clara (15 May 1896 - 27 September 1967)
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from the Methodist Church in Alma
Center for Mrs. Clara Lastofka, 71, formerly of Neillsville, who died here
September 27. Burial was made in the East Lawn Cemetery at Alma Center.
Mrs. Lastofka, the former Clara Wendt, was born may 15, 1896, in Cataract, the
daughter of the late Fred and Mary Wendt. She attended Neillsville elementary
and high school. She did clerical work in Neillsville before her marriage on
December 31, 1919, to George Lastofka. Following their marriage they farmed
south of Neillsville. They also lived near Chili and Rib Lake.
For several years they operated a hotel in Humbird. For 25 years, Mrs. Lastofka
resided in Minneapolis, Minn., where she was a dietitian at the Veterans
Hospital. For the last three years she had lived in Alma Center.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Shellon (Alice) Laffe of Montezuma, Ia.,
and Mrs. Francis (Rose) Michel of rural Alma Center; two sisters Mrs. Anna
Neville of Neillsville and her twin, Mrs. Evan (Laura) Hatton of Greenwood; and
by seven grandchildren.
People attending the funeral included: Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Wendt and family, Mrs.
Frederick Wendt, Miss Eva Wendt, Mrs. Anna Neville, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kessler,
Mrs. Nina Blackman, Mrs. Lillian Severson, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Prochazka, Mrs.
Rose Schiller, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pierce, William R. Neville, Sr., and Mrs.
William Neville, Jr., all of Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Emma Dahlke of Edgar; Mr.
and Mrs. Augie Rangel of St. Paul, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Leo Neville and family of
Madison; Mrs. Anna Hughes and Jim Hughes of Cataract; and Adolph Ghent of
Melrose.
From Greenwood were Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Lentz, Mr. and Mrs. Evan Hatton and Mr.
and Mrs. Clark Hatton.
