Stevens, Robert T. Jr. (18 February 1949 – 5 June 2024)

Robert T. Stevens, JR, 75 of Thorp, formerly of Boyd, died Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Marshfield Medical Center.

He was born on February 18, 1949, in Woodstock, IL to the late Robert T. and Bernice P. (Hetzer) Stevens, Sr. In 1955 the family settled on a farm north of Boyd in the Town of Delmar where Bob was raised. He attended Boyd Elementary and Stanley-Boyd High School, graduating in 1967. Bob was drafted into the Army and served his country from July 1969 through May 1971 including an 11 month combat duty in Vietnam.

Once discharged from the Army and after several years of factory work and driving semi for a major moving company, Bob bought a neighboring farm not far from his parent’s place where he farmed until his retirement. Being so close to his parent’s farm was a true blessing to the whole Stevens family, who truly appreciate and value all the memories created at both places.

Once his farm was sold, he purchased his home in Thorp. He very much enjoyed being part of his new community but continued to stay connected with his friends and neighbors near Boyd. Regular card games, gatherings to enjoy football games and Bingo nights kept him in circulation socially.

Between frequent outings on his motorcycle and the occasional trip through the old neighborhood on his father’s Allis Chalmers WD45, Bob still managed to squeeze in some fieldwork for friends when needed. Of course, there was always Jeopardy to fill the down time.

He is survived by his best friend, Shanda Lodahl, his brother, Kenneth (Joy) Stevens of Stone Lake, his sister, Gail (Terry) Klay of Wausau and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the Plombon Funeral Home-Stanley. Inurnment will follow in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery-Boyd. Visitation will be from 9:30 until the time of service.
