Hanson, Christine Pauline (Rankel) (7 NOV 1915 - 4 NOV 2012)
Christine Pauline Hanson, age 96, of Colby, passed away on Sunday, November 4,
2012, at Pine Ridge Assisted Living in Colby.
She was born on November 7, 1915, in Waukegan, Ill., the daughter of John and
Pauline (Schmuck) Rankel. As a young child, her family moved to Colby where she
attended a country school in the Town of Colby.
On January 28, 1935, Christine married Roy Hanson in Unity. They farmed in the
Colby area and raised their family. She worked at the shoe factory in
Marshfield, Meadow Farms in Abbotsford and later she became head cook for the
Colby School District, retiring in 1982.
Together they had four daughters: Rochelle Fricke, Colby; Gloria (Bernard)
Klabunde, Dorchester; Elaine (Robert) Ruprich, Dorchester and Emily (James)
Bellendorf, Medford.
Christine is further survived by 12 grandchildren, Jane (Alvin Thieme) Fricke,
Leroy (Cindy) Fricke, Jeffrey (Deb) Klabunde, Scott (Nancy) Klabunde, Brad
Klabunde, Rebekah Ruprich, Joel (Angela) Ruprich, Jamin (Leilani) Ruprich, Kathy
(Dan) Felix, Bill (Nancy) Bellendorf, Brian Bellendorf and Shawn (Michelle)
Bellendorf; 22 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; four
siblings, Helen Gannon, Irene Schultze, Hildegarde Dizanno all of Chicago, Ill.,
and Mathilda Hollman, Maplewood, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Pauline; her husband, Roy in
2001; siblings, John, George, Walter, Pauline Overbeck and Lillian Drecznski;
sister-in-law, Mary “Betty” Rankel; brothers-in-law, Art Gannon, Gustave
Overbeck, Carl Schultze, Vito Diznno, Richard Hollman and Ray Drecznski; and a
son-in-law, Edward Fricke.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at
the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses (6023 Hwy. 13 North of Dorchester). A
private burial service was held in the Colby Memorial Cemetery.
