Swacker, Raymond "Virgil" (28 MAY 1922 - 1 NOV 2012)
Raymond "Virgil" Swacker, age 90, of Abbotsford, passed away on Thursday, Nov.
1, 2012 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Nov. 4 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in
Milan. Rev. Jeffrey A. Lambrecht officiated. Burial was at the Abbotsford Public
Cemetery.
Virgil was born on May 28, 1922 to Robert and Blanche (Longstreth) Swacker in
Waverly, Neb. He graduated from High School in Waverly in 1940. Virgil was
joined in marriage to Evelyn Schuelke on June 8, 1949 in Council Bluff, Iowa.
She preceded him in death on April 19, 1995. After their marriage, they farmed
in Waverly until 1957. They moved to Wisconsin and farmed in the Town of Johnson
until 1976.
Virgil also owned and operated Swacker Milk Service, and then worked for Wausau
Homes as a semi driver.
His huge smile and twinkling eyes will be greatly missed. He enjoyed his family,
especially his grandkids. Virgil enjoyed sports, watching the Green Bay Packers
and the Nebraska Corn Huskers, and watching birds and squirrels.
Virgil is survived by his sons, Ray (Dorrie) Swacker of Abbotsford, Randy (Dawn)
Swacker of Jacksonville, Fla., and Roger Swacker of Menominee, Mich.; his
daughters, Rebecca (Jeff) Nelson of Abbotsford and Roxanne Stibbe of Angleton,
Texas. He is further survived by eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren
and one expected in December; his sister, Beverly Dugan of California; and other
relatives and friends.
Virgil is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn; one brother; one
sister; and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Swacker.
The Swacker family would like to extend a special thank you to Cindy Dahl. With
her help Virgil was able to continue living in his home.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in Virgil's name.
The Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is assisting the family with
arrangements. Online condolences can be made at
