Oehler, Dewey (27 JUN 1898 - 10 JUL 1963)

Dewey Oehler, 65, of Abbotsford died early Wednesday morning at his home.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church at Dorchester. The body will lie in state at the Polnaszek Funeral Home, Abbotsford, from Thursday noon to Friday noon, when it will be taken to the church.

Dewey Oehler was born June 27, 1898 at Dyersville, Winnebago Co., Iowa, and the family later moved to Thompson, Iowa, where he attended public schools. In 1919 he moved with his family to the Dorchester area until 1958, when they retired and moved to Abbotsford.

On April 2, 1924 he married Sophie Jacobs, who survives him. The couple farmed in the Dorchester area until 1958, when they retired and moved to Abbotsford.

He was an active member of the Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church of Dorchester, where he acted as chief steward. He also served on the board of trustees until the time of his death.

Surviving, besides his wife, are six children, Harold and Dewey James, Dorchester; Mrs. James (Leora) Reynolds, Dorchester; Mrs. Robert (Marcella) Bredlau, Owen; Mrs. Victor (Nelrose) Carpenter, Wis. Rapids; and Gary at home.

His father, Ambrose Oehler of Abbotsford, also survives. There are 16 grandchildren and eight brothers and sisters: Irving of Boise, Idaho; Mrs. William (Myrtle) Miller of Dorchester; mrs. Cecilia Jacobs, Forest City, Ia.; Cecil of Abbotsford; Clinton Day of Appleton; Mrs. Ed (Nellie) Tischendorf; Mrs. Elmo (Ruby) Barker of Loyal; and Orval of Milwaukee.

He was preceded in death by his mother and two sisters.
