Kobs, George H. (30 AUG 1890 - 12 JUL 1963)
Funeral services for George H. Kobs, 72, of Colby, were held Monday, July 15, at
Zion Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. The Rev. Leroy Urman officiated at the services
and interment which followed in the Colby Memorial Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were by the Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby.
Pallbearers for the interment were Frank H. Goeltz, Lawrence Mueller, George
Kowalk, Ed Frome Sr., Karl Lauby and Ernest Schulz. Honorary pallbearers also
served from teh Colby Fire Department and the Colby American Legion. The Legion
was also represented by the firing squad.
Mr. Kobs died July 12, 1963 at Veterans Hospital at Wood, where he had been
hospitalized since March.
He was born in Milwaukee Aug. 30, 1890, and as a young boy he came with his
parents to Colby, where he received his educatio. As a young man, he returned to
Milwaukee, where he attended a business college for one year. He then returned
to Colby, where he worked for most of his life.
In 1918 he was called into service with the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the Colby fire department and the American Legion, and was an
active member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Colby. He was not married.
He is survived by a brother, Fred Kobs; a niece, Mrs. Walter Rosselet of
Milwaukee; and two nephews, DeLos Kobs of Mt. Horeb and Gerald Kobs of
California. A brother, Paul, preceded him in death.
