Courchaine, Joseph J. (1 JUN 1934 - 6 DEC 2012)
Joseph John Courchaine, 78, of Abbotsford, came to his eternal rest on Thursday,
December 6, 2012 after a four year battle with myelofibrosis, bone marrow
disease.
Funeral services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford on Monday,
December 10, 2012. Reverend Dr. Gary Paul will officiate. Visitation will be
held on Monday, from 9:00 am until the time of the 11:00 am service. Burial will
follow at Abbotsford Public Cemetery. A luncheon to be served at the church
following burial. Pallbearers will be; Paul Rachu, Bryon Rachu, Scott Rachu,
Daniel Courchaine, Evan Schindler, Louis Schaller, Nicholas Tucholka and
Honorary Pallbearer; Patrick Schaller.
Joseph "Joe" was born June 1, 1934 to Peter and Veronica (Landmesser) Courchaine
in Rib Lake, WI. On January 23, 1958 Joe married Evelyn Knoll at Sacred Heart
Catholic Church in Stetsonville, WI. Joe served in the Armed Services as a
Military Police officer. He ranched in South Dakota before he and his wife
returned to Wisconsin.
Joe was a member of Christ Lutheran Church serving on the Board of Finance and
Maintenance and a Board member of Colby Credit Union. Joe worked for 33 years at
Packaging Corporation of America in Colby.
After retirement he enjoyed working at Schindler Auctions, traveling to the
Western States to visit relatives, wood crafting and restoring antiques.
He is survived by his wife; Evelyn and six children; Clayton (Lynda) Courchaine
of Oxford, WI, Dolph (Brook) Courchaine of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX, Anita (Gary)
Rachu of Middleton, WI, Janice (Scott) Tucholka of Cedarburg, WI, Lisa (Tim)
Schindler of Curtiss, WI, Rhonda (Curt) Schaller of Northbrook, IL, one sister;
Betty Courchaine of Wausau, WI, 16 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 6
step-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents; Peter and Veronica Courchaine,
brothers; Richard and Alan Courchaine and sister; Phyllis Courchaine.
The Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is assisting the family with
arrangements.
