Witte, Anna (22 FEB 1879 - 17 JUL 1963)
Mrs. William A. Witte, formerly of Colby, died last Wednesday at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Ray Kriplean, at Appleton, at the age of 84, after a lingering
illness.
Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran Church Saturday afternoon, the Rev.
LeRoy Urman officiating, and interment was made in the Colby Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Norman Meinke, Harold Miller, Adam Fitzel, Norman Kobs, Eugene
Werner and John Kranzusch.
Mrs. Witte was born in Sheboygan County on Feb. 22, 1879. She received her
education in Colby schools and was married to William Witte at Colby on Dec. 13,
1905. They farmed in the town of Hull until 1919, when they moved to the city of
Colby.
Since 1961, they have made their home with a daughter at Marshfield and with
another daughter at Appleton.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Delos Luhrsen, Marshfield, and
Mrs. Ray Kriplean, Appleton; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by two sons, two sisters and two brothers.
Out of town people at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kriplean, Mr. and Mrs.
John Kranzusch and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Werner and sons, and Karla
Witte, Appleton, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Witte and daughter, Rochester, N.Y., Mr.
and Mrs. Leonard Arends, Mr. and Mrs. Delos Luhrsen and son, Mrs. George Miller,
and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Praschak, Marshfield, Mrs. Ella Machin and Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon Lucht, Grafton, Mrs. Jack Alexander, Medford, Mrs. Carl Meinke, Unity,
Mr. and Mrs. Otto Zarnke, West Allis, Mr. and Mrs. William Zarnke, Stratford,
Mrs. Robert Unger, Owen, and many relatives and friends from the Colby area.
