Witte, William A. (25 OCT 1875 - 29 JUL 1963)

Funeral services for William A. Witte, 87, will be held this afternoon, Aug. 1, at 3 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby.

Mr. Witte died at 10:15 p.m. Monday at teh home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. D.C. Luhrsen, at Marshfield, where he had been living since 1960.

The Rev. Jerome V. Wohlfeil will officiate at the services, and burial will be made in the Colby Memorial Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby, until noon, when it will be taken to the church.

William A. Witte was born in the town of Herman, Sheboygan County, Oct. 25, 1875. He came to this area with his family at the age of 6. On Dec. 13, 1905 he married the former Anna Meinke at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby, and the couple farmed in the town of Hull until 1919, when they moved to Colby.

Since 1960, he has lived at teh home of Mr. and Mrs. Luhrsen at Marshfield.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. D.C. (Elsie) Luhrsen, Marshfield, and Mrs. Ray (Hilda) Kriplean of Appleton, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Schorer, Colby, Mrs. George Miller, Marshfield, and Mrs. Charles Miller, Yam Hill, Oregon, and three brothers, Paul and John Witte, Colby, and Frank Witte, Arpin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, who died July 17; two sons, Edwin and Walter, and three brothers and two sisters.
