Richard "Dick" Shefchik, 74, Marshfield, died on Sunday, December 16, 2012
surrounded by his family at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday at St. John's
Catholic Church, Marshfield. Rev. Samuel Martin will officiate and music will be
provided by St. John's Church Funeral Choir. Burial will take place in St.
Anthony's Cemetery, Loyal and serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren
Justin, Nathan and Logan Russell, Katie and Kory Mueller, Spencer and Megan
Shefchik, Skyler O'Day and Cecilia Shefchik. . The visitation will be held on
Thursday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home and on Friday from
9:30 am until service time at St. John's Catholic Church. A Knights of Columbus
rosary service will be held on Thursday at 6:30 pm at the funeral home.
Dick was born on December 30, 1937 in the Town of Beaver, Clark County to Emil
and Hildegarde (Renz) Shefchik, Sr. and attended Loyal schools. He was united in
marriage to Diann M. Molle on April 26, 1958 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church,
Loyal.
As a young man he farmed and was a cheesemaker. He then worked for Highway
Pavers, Inc. of Milwaukee from 1964 until 1986. He was last employed at Roehl
Granite, Inc. in Mosinee until 1999.
Dick enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, storytelling, and playing cards. He raced
stock cars and enjoyed snowmobling. Dick loved visiting with family and friends.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus John Eisen Council #1799.
He is survived by his wife, Diann and their children, Doris (Gary) Russell of
Hancock, Dawn (James) Mueller of Milwaukee, David (Laureen) Shefchik of Union,
KY, and Don (Maureen) Shefchik of Wisconsin Rapids. He is also survived by 9
grandchildren. He is further survived by 3 brothers and 3 sisters, Edward
Shefchik, Angeline Gregory (Daryl Wendt) Raymond (Ruth) Shefchik, Jean (Larry)
Menehan, Joan (Dave) Abbott, and Emil "JR" (Sue) Shefchik, a sister-in-law, Mary
Shefchik, and brothers-in-law, Jack Welch, Milton (Nan Jean) Molle and Jack
(Emily) Molle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Elmer Shefchik and Lawrence
(Nina) Shefchik, a sister, Eleanor Welch and his in laws, Henry and Louella
Molle.
In lieu of flowers the family will designate a memorial in Dick's name at a
later date.
