Wagner, William (28 April 1880 - 3 October 1967)
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the Gilbertson Funeral Home in
Granton for William Wagner, 87, of Rt. 1 Granton, who died October 3, at his
home. The Rev. William Dushek of Neillsville officiated, with burial made in the
Lynn Cemetery.
Mr. Wagner was born April 28, 1880 in Calumet County, where he attended school.
On March 18, 1902, he was married to Anna Franke in Chilton. They engaged in
farming in the Town of Lynn, where Mr. Wagner had resided for the last 65 years.
He retired in 1946, when they sold the farm to their son, George.
Mr. Wagner served as director of the Poplar School in the Town of Lynn, was
chairman for several years and also served as a director of the Chili Co-op
elevator and of the Chili Bank.
His survivors include his wife; a son, George, on the home far m; a daughter,
Mrs. Arthur (Ethel) Manthey of Waunakee; a brother, John, of Chilton; five
grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were: Allen Reisner, George Schmitz, Clyde Braun, David Gallagher,
Harry Portz and Fred Schutz.
