A new home at 410 Wallace Ave., Rockford, Ill., awaits Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Held on their return from a two week honeymoon trip to Miami Beach, Fla., and southern states.

Miss Janice May Marcott of Abbotsford became the bride of Gerald A. held of Rockford, Ill, Saturday, Aug. 10, 1963, at the Assembly of God Church at Athens. The Rev. Morris Oblein heard their marriage vows at a ceremony performed at 2:30 o'clock, during which Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Held of Minneapolis sang "Together with Jesus" and Mr. Held sang "I Love You Truly," as a solo. Miss Carol Noeldner of Loyal was organist.

Parents of the bridal couple are Mr. and Mrs. Lavern C. Marcott of Abbotsford and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur E. Held of Rockford, Ill.

The bride was attired in a floor length gown of Chantilly type lace designed with a fitted bodice, Sabrina neckline and long sleeves that came to a point over the wrist, and a very bouffant ruffled tiered skirt. The neckline and ruffles were richly embroidered with seed pearls and iridescent sequins. Her bouffant three tiered veil was held by a crown trimmed with pearls and crystals. She carried a white lace fan with a lavender orchid surrounded by white stephanotis.

For her attendants she chose her sister, Mrs. David Hawks of Abbotsford as her matron of honor, two sisters of the groom, Miss Diane Held and Miss Phyllis Held, both of Rockford, as bridesmaids, and a cousin of the groom, Miss Jane Held of Athens, as flower girl.

They were dressed in street length satin dresses with scalloped hems. Deep purple was selected for the matron of honor and orchid for the bridesmaids and flower girl. The bodices were made with a square neckline and an overpiece which came to points at the enck with a low scoop neckline at the back. A large water lily of the same material accented the waistlines at the back. Matching headpieces with halo veils and white baskets of matching Fuji mums and pompons completed their ensembles.

Deep purple Fuji mums surrounded with white pompons were placed on the altar. The front pews were marked with orchid and white bows centered with an orchid.

David Hawks, a brother-in-law of the bride, was the best man, and George Hanson, a friend of the groom and Lewis Marcott, all of Abbotsford, a brother of the bride, were groomsmen. Nels Anderson of Dorchester and Rodney Hawks of Curtiss performed the ushering duties.

Mrs. Marcott wore a yellow ensemble with white accessories and Mrs. Held wore a gold ensemble with black accessories. Both mothers had corsages of lavender flowers.

Mrs. Pauline Held of Athens and Ray Marcott of Phillips, grandparents of the bridal couple, were honored with a corsage and boutonniere.

A reception for about 250 guests was held at the Abbotsford Village Hall at 5 o'clock.

Prior to their wedding, the bride was honored at a Stanley shower on June 3 and both the bride and groom were feted at a miscellaneous shower on July 22 at the Elmer Held home, Athens.

The bride has been employed in the office of Sears Roebuck and Co. in Marshfield. The groom is employed with the Rockford Screw Corp. at Rockford.
