Lewan, Joseph (10 AUG 1896 - 10 AUG 1963)
Joseph Lewan, 67, Forestville, Wis., died at 12:10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 10, 1963
at Algoma Memorial Hospital of a heart ailment. He had been in ill health the
past 8 years.
He was born Aug. 10, 1896 at Salisbury, Mass. In 1904 he moved with his parents
and family to Bellinger, Wis., where he made his home. In 1928 he moved to
Chicago where he married the former Emily Kutz on Aug. 10, 1929.
He moved with his family to Colby in 1949, where he operated a tavern until
1954. He then moved to Forestville where he made his home until his death.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Lord Jesus Lutheran Church, Chicago,
with Rev. W.A. Brokenhagen officiating. Burial was in the Concordia Cemetery,
Chicago.
Surviving are his wife, Emily' three daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Emma) Palonis,
Chicago, Mrs. Ray (Irene) Lorin, Chicago, Mrs. Clifford (Evelyn) Empey,
Forestville; one son, Edward, Chicago; five grandchildren; three sisters, Tilie,
Holcombe, Margie, Chicago, Antoinette, Chicago; five brothers, Garfield,
Chicago, Kazmer, Chicago, Lois, Thorp, Peter, Wis. Rapids, and Frank, Chicago.
