Jean Ann Meyer (Smail), 87, of Neillsville, passed away peacefully Saturday,
Dec. 15, 2012, at the House of the Dove Hospice Home, Marshfield.
She was born in Eau Claire June 2, 1925. During her childhood years, she always
looked forward to riding her bike and fishing for muskies in the flowages and
lakes of northern Wisconsin.
Jean completed training to be a registered nurse at Luther Hospital in 1942.
During her pre-commissioning physical to enter the U. S. Army as a nurse in
WWII, she was diagnosed with tuberculosis and spent almost a year in the Eau
Claire TB sanitarium where she met her future husband, Lloyd, who was also in
the TB ward.
Jean was married to Lloyd July 25, 1953. Along with serving many years as a
county nurse for Clark County Public Health Department, Jean was also a loving
wife, mother and grandmother who worked tirelessly for decades along sided Lloyd
keeping the books, driving tractors and supporting the family business on their
dairy farm.
Jean was a longtime member of the United Church of Christ and the Neillsville
Knitting Club. She cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren. She
enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and cooking. Jean was best known for
her delicious breakfast rolls and buckwheat pancakes, but she would also make
amazing Tom & Jerry. Jean was a kind and beautiful soul who was loved by many
and will be greatly missed.
Jean is survived by her husband Lloyd; four children, Ann Boudreau of Eau
Claire, Lynn Ivacic of Loyal, Marek Meyer of Albuquerque, NM, and Scott Meyer of
Richfield, MN; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jean was predeceased by her parents, her sister, and her granddaughter,
Danielle.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the House of the Dove Hospice Home,
Marshfield, for the kind care provided to Jean.
Jean’s Memorial service will be held at the United Church of Christ in
Neillsville, Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at 11 a.m. with a luncheon following.
