Nikolai, Genevieve L. (Marriage - 7 October 1967)
Wedding vows were exchanged Saturday in Colby, uniting in marriage Genevieve L.
Nikolai, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph W. Nikolai of Unity, and Dennis John
Nawracaj, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kuranda of Glen Ellyn, Ill. The Rev. John Pinion
officiated.
As the bride entered the church with her father, who gave her in marriage, she
wore a floor-length ivory peau de soie dress, styled with an A-line skirt. A
fitted bodice of lace topped the skirt. The back featured a long train. Her
fingertip veil was held in place by a band of white pompons, chrysanthemums, and
ivy. She carried a cascade arrangement of red roses, white pompon chrysanthemums
and ivy.
Miss Patricia Nikolai of Milwaukee was her sister’s maid-of-honor. Bridesmaids
were Miss Mary Jo Nikolai, Miss Diana Nawracaj and Miss Karen Nikolai. The
attendants wore floor-length dresses, also styled with A-line skirts. Their
fitted bodices featured three-quarter-length sleeves of open work lace and bows
at their waistlines. Each carried a single, large bronze football chrysanthemum.
Kenneth Kuranda of Elmhurst, Ill., was bestman. Groomsmen were Carl Krusiec of
Westchester, Ill., Eugene Lytwyn of Colby and Steve Kuranda of Wauconda. Ushers
were David Wiskow of Merrill and Richard Kuranda of Wauconda.
The bride a 1966 graduate of Loyal High School also attended Wisconsin State
University - Eau Claire for a year. She presently is employed in Evanston, Ill.
The groom is a graduate of Colby High School and is a machinist in Addison,
Ill., where the couple will reside after returning from a wedding trip to
Northern Wisconsin.
