T he Willard Homemakers will meet Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Kenneth
Horn.
The West Side Homemakers will meet at the home of Mrs. Olga Reineking Tuesday
afternoon.
Mrs. Harold Gardner will be hostess to the Salem, Aid at her home Tuesday
afternoon.
The 32nd annual meeting of the stockholders of the Cooperative Services, Clark
County, will be held Tuesday evening at 8:15 in the Greenwood high School
auditorium. Offices will be elected, reports will be given and other business
will be transacted. A lunch will be served.
A smorgasbord and bazaar will be held at Grace Methodist Church in Greenwood
next Wednesday. Serving will begin at 5 p.m. The public is invited.
The Esther Circle of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church will meet this (Thursday)
afternoon at the home of Mrs. Adolph Jackson. The Naomi Circle meeting was held
at the home of Mrs. Sam Johnson Wednesday afternoon. The Dorcas Circle was
entertained Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Melvin Alperstett.
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Carteron and Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Brux left Saturday for
Washington C.C.
The Women’s Guild met in Immanuel United Church last Wednesday afternoon, with
Mrs. Henry Vollrath presiding. Mrs. Phillip Vollrath gave devotions. Mrs.
Quinton Irvine was appointed to visit the sick and shut-ins for the month of
November. A used clothing drive is being conducted and also any articles for the
Southern Colony at Union Grove should be brought to the church. A lunch was
served by Mrs. George Kuester and Mrs. Quinton Irvine. Thank Offering boxes
should be brought to the next meeting, November 1. Hostesses will be Mrs.
Herbert Horn and Mrs. George Humke.
The Women’s Guild meeting in Zion United Church was held last Thursday
afternoon. Mrs. Rose Ludwig presided. The Rev. David Logue gave the lesson
Genesis, Chapter 3. Mrs. Richard Acker, program chairman, gave a reading, “I’m
Glad I’m a Housewife.” Other readings were given by Mrs. Fred Hilton and Mrs.
Paul Acker. The next meeting will be held November 2. Hostesses will be Mrs.
Rose Ludwig, Mis Louise Keiner, Mrs. William Kuester and Mrs. Oscar Meinholdt.
The program chairman will be Miss Louise Keiner. The gathering of the Thank
Offering boxes will be held. Following the meeting a lunch was served by Mrs.
William Kuester, Mrs. Jake Speich and Miss Violet Speich.
The Rev. David Logue spent Tuesday and Wednesday in Madison, where he attended a
pastor’s retreat.
Mrs. Paul Acker accompanied Mrs. William Creg and Mrs. Anna Lindgren of Owen to
Seattle, Wash., to visit their sister, Mrs. Hubert Brown, formerly of Greenwood.
They returned Wednesday after two week’s absence.
