Volz, Robert E. (17 November 1884 - 13 October 1967)
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home for
Robert E. Volz, 82, of 444 Cass St. Wisconsin Rapids, who died Friday in
Riverview Hospital there. The Rev. William Dushek of the Neillsville Methodist
Church officiated. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mr. Volz was born November 17, 1884, in Baraboo and received his education in
the Reedsburg schools. He was engaged in farming in that area until his marriage
on October 2, 1913, to the former Velmer Linton in Baraboo.
They moved to Clark County and located on a farm in the Town of Washburn, where
they resided for 41 years. In 1954 they moved to Pittsville, where they lived
for a year, and then moved to Wisconsin Rapids. Mr. and Mrs. Volz celebrated
their 54th wedding anniversary on Oct. 2. He had been ill only three days prior
to his death.
Mr. Volz is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mrs. John (Marcella) Adams of
Richmond, Cal., Mrs. William (Florence) Kopp of Cambridge, Mrs. Rodger (Iva)
Northup of Grayslake, Ill., and Mrs. Stanley (Deloris) Rosenthal of Wisconsin
Rapids; and by seven sons, George and Harry of Wisconsin Rapids, Lester of Black
River Falls, Gerald of City Point, Wilbur of Orland, Cal., and Willis of
Neillsville. Other survivors include three brothers, Walter and Charles of
Prairie du Sac and Fred of Poynette; 22 grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were: Irving Stevens, Oliver Williams, Donald Voit, Sanford Dehart,
Ralph Short and Walter Trachte. “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” and “Sweetly
Resting” were sung by Ellis Wall, accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

Rosenthal and family, Mr. and Mrs. George Volz, Mr. and Mrs. George Marco, Mrs.
Dennis Hanneman, Mr. and Mrs. Voit, Mrs. Vera Barth, Mr. and Mrs. Harry F. Volz
and family, and Mrs. Clarence Hall, all of Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. and Mrs.
William Kopp, Mr. and Mrs. William Kupfel, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Johnson of
Cambridge; Mr and Mrs. Ferd Kopp of Marshfield; Charles Volz of Prairie du Sac;
Mr., and Mrs. Fred Volz of Poynette; Mrs. Genevieve McGraw and Mrs. Florence
Hindes of Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Volz of City Point; Lester Volz,
Miss Nancy Volz of Black River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Volz of Waukesha; Mr.
and Mrs. Rodger Northup and family of Grayslake, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Oliver
Williams and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer of Granton.
