Christensen, Mary J. (Marriage - 14 October 1967)

One hundred fifty guests witnessed as the Rev. James Christensen performed the double ring ceremony Saturday in the Thorp Methodist Church, uniting in marriage Miss Mary J. Christensen of Thorp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Christensen of Thorp, and Robert W. Stummeier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Greglaw of Crystal Lake, Ill.

Mr. Christensen entered the church with his daughter and gave her in marriage as Mrs. Altine Boardman played the organ music. Wedding songs were sung by Mrs. Lucretia Paff.

The bride’s gown of peau de soie was a sheath-styled, floor-length gown. The fitted bodice featured a yoke, and bell sleeves of ribboned Alencon lace, trimmed with seed pearls. Appliqués’ of lace and pearls enhanced the skirt and the detachable chapel-length train. A lace cloche held the chapel-length silk illusion veil. She carried a cascade bouquet of lilies and stephanotis.

Miss Betty Zaborowski of Thorp was maid-of-honor. Bridesmaid was Mrs. Georgia Fredrickson of Merrillan. They wore floor-length A-line dresses styled with Empire waists of copper worsted linen, enhance with heavy cream lace bordering elbow-length sleeves. Matching tailored bows in their hair and matching shoes, complimented their ensembles. Each carried a crescent bouquet of yellow and white chrysanthemums with bittersweet.

Gwendolyn Boardman was miniature bride. Jefre Fredrickson served as ringbearer.

Nels Christensen of Omaha, Nebr., was best man. Groomsman was Fred Fredrickson of Merrillan. Ushers were Gary Smith of Wauwatosa and Mike Elkins of Thorp.

Mr. and Mrs. Stummeier have left on a wedding trip to the eastern states and will reside in Laurel, Md., after October 30.
