Seefeld, Nola (20 Jan 1917-06 Dec 2012)

Nola E. Seefeld, 95, Colby, entered eternal life on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2021. She was a resident of the Colonial Center, Colby. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Riplinger: Pastor Rebekah Tarras officiated. Burial was in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, town of Unity. Pallbearers were Troy Seefeld, Matthew Frane, Rick Hardrath, Brenton Engvoid, Derek Wussow, and Jon Wussow.

Nola Schofield was born on Jan. 20, 1917, at home, a daughter of Archie and Belle (nee Hulce) Schoefield. She entered Grove Side grade school at the age 0f 4 and graduated from Spencer High School at age 16. She then entered Stevens Point Normal School and graduated with a teaching certificate at the age of 18. On Dec. 21, 1935, Nola married Norman Seefeld in Neillsville. He preceded her in death on Sept. 18, 1977. She taught at Grove Side and Soo Grove schools from 1941-1947. She then took some time off from teaching to assist her husband in building their house. She later worked at the St. Croix Fish Pole Factory and J. C. Penny’s, and served as Unity town clerk from 1969-87. In addition to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, Nola enjoyed reading and bowling. She particularly enjoyed sewing and made many bridesmaid-dresses for her children and grandchildren. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and used her sewing talents to create many beautiful banners for the church. She also loved traveling, especially to Englewood, Fla., to be near the beach. She was also a charter member of the Up & Coming Homemakers Club.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Dennis (Doris) Seefeld, Owen, Glen (Joanne) Seefeld, Tomahawk, Lynn (Phillip) Frane, Unity, and Cynthia Ackerman, Dorchester; eight grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; one brother, Raymond “Sonny” (Pat) Schofield, Spencer; and four sisters, Flossie Sook, Wausau, Vera Smith, Camp Douglas, Beulah Washkuhn, Green Bay and Myrna Schofield, Hazelhurst.

Nola was preceded in death by one grandson, Randy Hardrath; two sisters, Betty Fischer and Jeanne Murray; one brother, Richard Schofield; and an infant sister, Ramona.
