Allen L. Luber, 90, Loyal, died on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at the Clark County
Health Care Center, Owen. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Saturday,
Dec. 8, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiated.
Burial followed in the Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dave Fricke, Larry
Rueth, Jim Hein, Jeff Selrun, Daniel Baumbach and Harvey Baunbach.
Allen Leonard Luber was born on Dec. 8, 1921, in the town of Sherman, rural
Loyal, the son of August and Clara (nee Paulas) Luber. He was raised on the
family farm and received his education In the Loyal area, graduating from the
Loyal High School in 1939. After high school, Al drove truck and worked at
Oestreich Filling Station until entering and serving in the U.S, Army Air Force
from 1942-1945. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Loyal and married
Mavis Otto on Sept. 7, 1946 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. Al worked at the
Clark County Highway Department until purchasing the Mavis family farm in 1951.
While on the farm, he also drove truck for Stewart’s Redville Dairy, Greenwood,
for eight years. He retired from farming in 1999 and sold the farm to his son,
Jeff. He continued to live on the farm until entering the Clark County Health
Service in May 2011. He was a former member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the
Loyal American Legion Post #175, and Neillsville VFW Post #2241. He had many
interests, but especially loved spending time with his family, hunting, fishing,
natures, bowling and playing cards.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 66 years, Mavis, Loyal; four children,
Barbara (Everett) Sherman, Viola, Ark., Keith Luber, Loyal, Carol (Harvey)
Baumbach, Osseo, and Jeff Luber, Loyal; two grandchildren, Valerie (Jeff)
Saltun, Stillwater, Minn., and Daniel Baumbach, Eau Claire; one
step-granddaughter, Faith Seltun, Eau Claire; and nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Virgil Luber and Ford
Luber, and one sister, Caroline Oestreich
