Jicinsky, Ambrose (11 Sept. 1919-06 Dec. 2012)

Ambrose G. Jicinsky, 93, Unity, died peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at House of the Dove Hospice Home, Marshfield. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Stratford. Rev. John Robert Alphonse officiated. Burial took place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County. His six sons served as pallbearers.

Ambrose Jicinsky was born on Sept. 11, 1919, on Sugar Island, Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. He moved to Stratford and attended Westcott School in the town of Eau Pleine. He married Rita Hein on Feb. 21, 1944, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby. Ambrose farmed many years while working out at various jobs. In later years he took up his passion, woodworking. He enjoyed Canada fishing trips with family and friends, bowling at Little Rose and working in the shed with the boys and neighbor kids. He also enjoyed watching birds, crossword puzzles, Scrabble and checkers.

He is survived by his wife, Rita; their 11 children, Bette Kramer, Stratford, Gene Jicinsky, Las Vegas, Gary (Judee) Jicinsky, Marshfield, Steve (Betty) Jicinsky, Baraboo, Rose Jicinsky, Akron, Ohio, Alan (Paulette) Jicinsky, Stratford, Jeffrey Jicinsky, Middleton, Phyllis Jicinsky, Blue Mound, Judy (Dave) Williams, Swisher, Iowa, Barbie (Rick) Mueller, Marshfield, and Wayne (Mary) Jicinsky, Colby; 21 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Aaron.
